DAARSTOC is a student co-curricular activity based at Rider University, founded in 1976. It is housed in the College of Business Administration but is open to all daytime undergraduates enrolled at Rider.br>
DAARSTOC stands for Developing Administrative Abilities and Resources through the Synergistic Training of Organizational Competencies.
Its Mission is to develop and enhance the personal and professional skills and sense of self for students, alumni and friends through innovative learning methods and personal interaction. DAARSTOC trains students through workshops held once a week (and on three weekend days over the course of each semester). Skill building occurs through role plays, exercises, and group problem-solving discussions. Unlike many other student organizations, it does not bring in speakers. The learning is from engagement in exercises.
Students learn to become effective in interpersonal leadership roles by learning to be up-front in appropriate ways, focus on issues, not lose their temper, and problem solving with the person they are confronting within a climate of mutual respect. The various training exercises seek to duplicate a real life situation so that the student learns how to become effective. In essence, the students are learning to be professional in their interactions with others. DAARSTOC only exists at Rider University.
What kind of students is DAARSTOC looking to recruit? The kind of student who is willing to take responsibility for their own learning. The kind of student who is willing to seriously give and receive feedback so that everyone in the group is able to grow, develop and operate at a higher level, and someone who is willing to commit themselves to the group and its process.
Being that DAARSTOC is unique the purpose of this website is to introduce its program to all potential student members. We invite you to browse through the site to learn more about us.
